Blistering...

Well, we DID have some weather a couple of months ago that was decidedly cold. We even went out and bought a couple of electric heaters, one with a timer so that it could come on at 5am and get the place a little less chilly. Daile bought an electric blanket... and THAT was a great thing to get. It took quite a while for the girls to get into the habit of closing the doors and that sort of thing.

But NOW.... it's absolutely blistering hot. At least it is at the studios here..(I'm writing this in my lunch half hour). I've got some work to do outside today, and I've had to resort to soaking a cloth in water and trapping it under my hat to keep the sun off my neck as I'm working. l

On Sunday (yesterday) I went out on a friends little yacht into Moreton Bay from Victoria Point. He's been trying to convince me that I should get one like his... instead of the power boats, and it sounds an attractive idea. It's not a priority, but I do think that at some point I'll do that. Daile is much more interested in the leisurely pace type boating, and the rip it up boating that our newer boat is capable of is really not comfortable for an extended period. That said, getting to Tangalooma in a yacht is a hit and miss affair cos you're reliant on favourable winds etc. You need to leave a lot more space, and accept that you might have to re-assess the trip unless you have the time.

That's it... more soon.

Blue skies.

OK, today was a bit dodgy weather-wise... there was a cloud in the sky!

I took that as I was on my way to the medical centre to have this looked at....

As you can see, I'd managed to run my little finger onto a splinter so hard that it was driven right through the finger and out the other side! Pete had a go at pulling it out, but just broke a couple of bits off it. We decided that if it broke off and needed to be dug out, it would be better if that was done by the same person, so that they didn't have to fish about for it. So off I went. The doctor tried to pull it out with forceps, but it broke off completely... not to mention that it hurt! So leaving the thin end for 'line up' he numbed the finger and cut the splinter out. It now has four stitches. Whilst doing that, he explained that there is a tendon there, and a blood vessel, although they 'should be' below the splinter. I felt a whole lot better that it was a professional doing it, rather than having a go myself with my left hand!

I spoke to Joe last week (saying happy birthday) and he asked me how long it had been since we'd had one of the boats in the water. I was ashamed to admit that it was Easter! So on Saturday I unblocked the jets in the carb that I'd taken out, and put it all back in the little motor. On Sunday, we went out onto the river (locally) for a re-hash of our 'Breakfast on the river' thing that we used to do from Collingwood Park. It was great. The weather was perfect, and the launch area was really good too, with a dual launch ramp and a little shop selling basic chandlery and foodstuffs. They even have a lake there with a ski cable. What that is is a cable that tows handles around a lake, and you can learn to water ski... without pissing off a boat driver. Bit spenny though at $29 an hour...

Happy Birthday Gilly...

There's a couple of shmucks that play Ice Hockey in Toronto called Chara and McCabe. They play for the Leafs and the Sens. The The Toronto Maple Leafs are the local team for Gill and Bill, (McCabe) and The Sens are the Ottowa Senators (Chara). At 6ft 9", Chara is the tallest player that has ever played for the US NHL and is a Slovak. I'm not particularly interested in this game, but I'm just telling you all this so that you can get the joke I'm posting up here. Hey I'm just trying to get in the Toronto swing.... cos it's Gill's birthday today! TADARR!

Happy Birthday Gilly.

Watch the movie... read the joke.

A Kindergarten teacher tells her class she’s a BIG Leafs fan.
She’s really excited about it and asks the kids if they’re Leafs fans too.

Well, everyone wants to impress the teacher so they say they’re Leafs fans too, except ONE kid, ...named Wayne

The teacher looks at Wayne and says, "Wayne, ...you’re NOT a Leafs fan?"

He says, "NOPE, I’m a BIG Sens fan!"
She says, "Well why are you a Sens fan and not a Leafs fan?"

Wayne says, "Well, my mom is a Sens fan, and my dad is a Sens fan, so I’m a Sens fan."

The teacher’s not real happy now.....and she’s a little hot under the collar.
She says, "Well, if your moms an idiot, and your dads a moron, then what would you be?!"

Wayne says, "Well, then I’d be a Leafs fan!!"
