Then in October, Josh arrived for 6 weeks on the back of his amazing first novel deal. It was amazing to see him and catch up on all sorts of things that are not so easy to talk about on the phone, sometimes you just need to be hanging out. That's what's so difficult about living over here... you can't hang out with your kids in the UK. I know it's obvious, but it kind of takes a toll, no matter how close you are.
And time slipped past us, and before long it was Halloween. Phoebe went to a party... the first one she's been to for Halloween.
...and Josh made a pumpkin, normally my thing. Good innit?
Around this time, we were driving along locally when the girls spotted an electric bike for sale at the side of the road. We stopped, I was thinking 'electric wheelbarrow parts' but Matilda was thinking about getting one up on her mate who she rides to school with. She was so cute about asking I decided that her need was greater than mine. So, after a bit of a haggle, we got the bike for $70 and we took the bike apart, it's battery was shot as we expected and we ordered some new 18ah 12v batteries and made wooden panniers for them to attach to the frame we'd made earlier in the year. The motor was quite an easy fit to her bike, and only needed slight modification. It's been a big hit with her mates. :-)
Phoebe had an art project and she decided to do it on Frida Kahlo. She wanted to do it as a family portrait..so this is the result. Feeb made all the head things and did most of the make up...mustaches and all.
