Then Molly came to stay...

In early September, Molly came to stay with us for 3 months.  It was awesome to see her, we had all been missing her and Josh so much.  It was nearly 5 years since either of them had been over, and it's a sad indictment on our finances, and a continuing situation for us, that we can't find the kind of money it would require for us all to go to the UK.

She settled straight in at the art school... not sure what her direction would be. She had a few goes at oil paintings, and later found herself again in her illustration.  It was cool to hang out with her, especially in that kind of environment.  Here she was painting up a skateboard deck with lots of her famous little men for Tild.

Not too long after she'd got here, we went for a long weekend at North Straddie.

Waiting for the boat to dock....

We couldn't get our usual camping spot...so we tried a new place.

On the beach at night...

Lookout at Point Lookout, Main Beach to the right...

One of the hidden little beaches...

The view from the end of the track at Amity Point...at this point, the 4WD track to the camping areas had been swept away.  Access was from further down Flinders beach.

...and emptying her boots

Molly examines a Bluebottle jellyfish...

Hot chocolate on the beach...

Teaching Tild to drive...

Daile and the girls take out a canoe thing at Amity.

The last day we were there we decided to get up for the dawn. We strolled down to the beach, but decided that it was 'cold' (not really...you English people :-)), so Feeb and I went back for our bedding...and we all snuggled up to wait.

And then it came....

Here's a cupla videos...

The low level of the sun makes for interesting shadows in the sand....

Matilda demonstrates the art of putting choccy spread on a tiny pancake...

Went along a 4WD track...it's what we do every time...same track :-)

...and it leads to a point about halfway down Main beach.  Usually it's a bit more 'rugged' weather facing the Coral Sea.  The sand is more churned up by vehicles too.

Getting off the beach is an art-form as the sand is always heavy going....and you need to be confident...

But we made it back to the site, packed up, got to the ferry AND saw the sun go down again! Fabulous day.
